Thermal pools of hot water are just part of many evidences of the volcano that Amiata used to be. Bagni San Filippo is the highest thermal town on Amiata slopes.
The peculiarity of the site is its location, in the woods, at an altitude accessible during every season. Due to the cool climate, genuine air joining properties of thermal water, a bath in the pools of Bagni San Filippo is a real moment of well-being and health.
Access to the natural pools is free, reachable through a path in the woods bordering the White Ditch. During the walk, you will see different natural pools of smaller and wider dimensions. Among the most famous is the White Whale, so called because its limestone formations that resemble the mouth of a whale. Here they flow warmer waters of the ditch that gushing from the nearby spring, guarantee a high temperature to allow to swim even when the weather is colder.
